Celebrating Women Entrepreneurship: Noo-Can-Do!'s Inspiring Two Decade Journey!
For over 20 years, Cynthia Young has been inspiring and delighting customers with her beautifully handcrafted cards.
Starting her business, Noo-can-do!, in February 2002, Cynthia began by selling her unique creations at Lemm’s Corner Market before moving to the Hermanus Country Market when it was still trading at Fernkloof. Her journey is a testament to her passion, creativity, and dedication to her craft.
But Cynthia isn’t alone in this endeavour. Her mom, Beulah, has been her right-hand woman from the very start, contributing to the success of their truly woman-owned and operated business. At their stall, you’ll also find Beulah’s stunning ShweShwe patchwork cushions—a beautiful addition that compliments Cynthia’s handmade cards.
In recent years, Cynthia has expanded her product range to support and showcase other talented women in the community. Her stall now features products from Laser & Lace, a woman-owned business run by Jill Fouché. You can also find some of her & her daughter Juliet’s creations at the Hermanus Emporium Stall.
Cynthia is also proud to offer gorgeous one-off shell cards made by Linda from Silver Linings in Struisbaai, another woman-owned small business. These collaborations highlight the strong, supportive network of creative women within the Hermanus community.
Cynthia’s stall at the Hermanus Country Market is more than just a place to find unique, handcrafted items – it’s a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the power of women in business. Come visit and be part of this incredible community, where every purchase supports a dream.
